Introducing Owen! Guess How Much I Love You!
A Note To Owen
Oh Owen, what a sweet treasure of a masterpiece you are. I have read a lot of children’s books in my day. When I think about what book you should read little man, it’s Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney. It’s about a little rabbit and a his daddy comparing how much they love each other. The daddy rabbit can always reach farther and hop higher and loves his son back just as much. It shows such a love and bond between the little rabbit and his dad.
Owen, you should see the way BOTH of your parents look at you. There is so much love in their eyes. The kind of love that the dad rabbit has for his son in Guess How Much I Love You. Your parents have waited for you for so long. They might be asking you soon, “Guess how much I love you?”. While they were waiting for you, their love for you grew stronger and stronger each day. They prepared your room for you so it would be perfect. They made sure they had everything you needed once you arrived. The rest of us waited and waited on pins and needles for the phone call or text that you were coming into the world to join your mom and dad. You came when you were ready and we are all so happy you are here. We will never tire of seeing your sweet little face and asking you, “Guess how much I love you?” because you are loved beyond measure!
I want you to remember, Owen, that as you grow up, you can do anything with love. Your mom and dad have created the perfect home for you to grow up in and feel loved. As long as you do all things in love, you will do great things. I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for you and all the great things you will do. I know for certain that the dojo will be a big part of your life. At the dojo you have a whole other family waiting to show you more love. One thing is for sure Owen, you will have no shortage of love!
The Day of the Shoot
Baby Owen came to the studio on the day of his shoot and was pretty calm just like his dad…until the car seat stopped moving. He fussed a little when he got out of his car seat. Tim and Emily said he loves riding in the car and falls asleep easily. They believe it is the motion that puts him to sleep. Emily is a martial arts instructor at Tristar Martial Arts and was on the move constantly due to her job. The new parents are wondering if Owen loves moving because Emily was always on the move. Tim took Baby Owen out of his car seat and swung him back and forth and he immediately calmed down. It was magical to witness.

Sweet Baby Owen has the cutest little button nose, the most precious squishy cheeks and flashed quite a few different facial expressions throughout our session. He was not a fan of being naked while getting changed but he was a dream to photograph. I used mostly whites and neutrals in the studio. Emily gave me full reign on how to pose and dress Owen. Since he didn’t like getting changed I only chose one outfit and one wrap. It broke my heart when he cried.
The posing and wrapping was baby oriented and very natural. I never forced Owen into any position he didn’t want to be in. Since Owen never really went into the deep sleep I want for newborns, I decided it was best to just keep things simple for him and do a few basic poses. A baby’s safety and comfort is my top priority when they are in my care. I guess you could say I am smitten already. I think I will be asking Owen, “Guess how much I love you?” often too!
Owen took a few little breaks to feed and get his diapers changed. I was able to get some beautiful family portraits of the new family which was just so sweet. I absolutely LOVED watching Tim and Emily with their brand new baby, boy! They had the look of love in their eyes for their son that you could not measure. All Tim and Emily had to do was stand there after following a few simple directions and admire this amazing little human that they created. Sometimes, when you love someone very, very much, you want to find a way of describing how much you treasure them. But, just as in the book, Guess How Much I Love You, that love can never be measured because it is too big to be comprehended. All you have to do is look at the way Emily and Tim look at Owen and you know that being parents is something they have wanted for a long time. Owen is one lucky little man. It is a privilege to know this family and witness their love for each other.
